Newton revives 'Death and the Maiden'

Newton LONDON --- Thandie Newton ("Beloved," "Crash") will topline the first West End revival of Ariel Dorfman's 1990 political thriller "Death and the Maiden." The production previews Oct. 13 ahead of an Oct. 24 opening at the Comedy theater. Produced by Creative Management and Productions (CMP) and Lyndi Adler, "Death and the Maiden" will be helmed by rising star Jeremy Herrin ("Spur of the Moment," Globe Theater's Much Ado About Nothing") who is currently in rehearsal for David Hare's forthcoming new drama, "South Downs." Dorfman's celebrated play was first produced by the Royal Court Theater in London before a year-long West End run, a Gotham run helmed by Mike Nichols starring Glenn Close, Richard Dreyfuss and Gene Hackman, and a screen version helmed by Roman Polanski starring Sigourney Weaver.
